SPACE STRATEGY WORKSHOPS

In the 'SPACE STRATEGY' workshops, I am teaching participants basic skills in spatial analysis, artistic intervention and spatial strategies with few tools and materials. I was able to sharpen the process through several years of teaching art in the context of architecture. I have been running urban intervention workshops in different contexts since 2010. For example, with students at the TU Berlin or the Faculty of Design in Riga, but also in the context of summer schools such as in Roja Latvia or Muscat Oman.

ONE DAY URBAN INTERVENTION

In my one-day urban intervention workshops, participants will learn basic tools for analyzing spaces, such as space notation and mind mapping. They will gain an overview of best practices in urban interventions from the field of art and learn tools for strategically intervening in spaces.
The workshop is structured into two parts. The first part covers the theoretical background and concept development, providing participants with the necessary foundation and strategies. The second part is a practical session where participants go into the space and practice urban interventions, applying the techniques they have learned.

72 HOURS URBAN INTERVENTION

The 72-hour urban intervention workshops are an advanced version of the one-day workshops. In addition to teaching the theoretical background of urban interventions, participants will develop three possible concepts for space interventions. After collective reflections, the groups will choose one concept and develop the construction details before applying it to the space.
These workshops are ideal for architecture students or anyone who enjoys hands-on building. I collaborate with experts specializing in simple construction details and the use of recycled or waste materials, ensuring a practical and sustainable approach to urban intervention.

URBAN INTERVENTION SUMMER SCHOOLS

In the Urban Intervention Summer Schools, participants dive deep into the spaces where the program takes place. Beyond analyzing spatial characteristics, they explore the history of the space and conduct interviews to gather opinions from inhabitants. All collected information is used to develop a series of urban interventions.
Participants will learn how to engage in an iterative working process and how to realize developed spatial concepts. They will also acquire basic construction and building skills. In these summer schools, I collaborate with experts from the building sector to provide comprehensive and practical learning experiences.
